Adult Wrestling Classes

Wrestling

Our wrestling classes are taught by professional wrestler, MMA fighter and coach Saied Karsaz. Saied, originally from Iran, Saied has been wrestling for over 23 years and coaching for Five years.

At Melbourne Jiu-Jitsu Academy Saied teaches the fundamentals of wrestling with the aim to improve BJJ students stand-up game. BJJ’s system requires the fight to be taken to the ground and the ability to control opponent. Wrestling is a critical component of that. Many of our students choose to complement their BJJ training and get an expanded view of grappling with our wrestling class.

“If someone knows good Jiu-Jitsu and good wrestling; it’s a powerful combination. He can take down and get the points. It puts you one step ahead of the other BJJ guys”.

You don’t need any experience to join the class, but you do need to be ready to work hard. Wrestling is an intense Cardiovascular workout and this class will test, and develop your muscle strength and endurance. The program starts with the very basics. Saied will begin with the guard, then teach students how to shoot and basic techniques which will be drilled each class. The program progresses to defence where techniques will be learnt and practiced with wrestling at the end of each class.

“Be welcome, just jump in. No experience is necessary. Come learn the techniques every Wednesday at MJJA”
