Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu for Juniors

Juniors Program (10-14years)

There is often much debate about the teaching of martial arts to children. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not a rough or dangerous martial art. In fact, it’s often referred to as the ‘Gentle Art’. The ground based martial art shows students how to fight on their back without the use of striking or punching. Incorporating the ‘Winners methodology for children’ program we focus on a range of life skills and core values to prepare your child for many of life’s highs and lows on and off the mats.

Program Description

While combat sports use fists and elbows as their defence our Juniors Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program teaches students how to control a provoker without hurting them or themselves using verbal assertiveness and non-violent self-defence techniques to stay safe. We do not teach your kids to punch or kick. Juniors are taught escapes, take downs, and passes, and leverage-based control holds to neutralize threats without violence. They are never taught techniques that could be unsafe if not executed properly or responsibly.

In addition to physical health, we have a strong focus on mental health; managing emotional ups and downs of life, self-compassion, communication and relationship skills, and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. We aim to equip your pre-teen and teen with comprehensive skills to navigate the next chapter of their lives.
